How to Read Your First Google Ads Audit Report Without Panicking

Your audit came back with 11 findings. Here's how to triage: what to fix today, what to schedule, and what's safe to ignore for now.

A first audit on a self-managed account typically surfaces somewhere between eight and fifteen findings. That's not a verdict on you — it's what accumulates in any account that a busy owner runs alongside an actual business. Here's how to work through the report without either panic or paralysis.

Triage by type, not by count

Findings sort into three buckets. Measurement problems (broken or double-counting conversion tracking) come first, always — fix these today, because until they're fixed you can't trust your own data, and neither can Google's bidding. Money leaks (zero-conversion keywords, Display expansion, location settings) come second — each is usually a five-minute change with an immediate, calculable saving. Optimization opportunities (ad strength, missing sitelinks, bid strategy tests) come last — real value, no urgency.

Use the dollar estimates to order the work

A good audit attaches a monthly cost to findings where the data supports one. Sort by that number. A $340/mo keyword leak outranks a missing callout extension every day of the week. Advestigate's estimates are deliberately conservative — only spend with zero conversions attached gets counted — so treat them as floors, not ceilings.

Re-run after two weeks, then monthly

The first re-run tells you whether your fixes took (did the score move? did the waste estimate drop?). After that, a monthly audit is the right cadence for a self-managed account: frequent enough to catch a broken tag within weeks instead of quarters, infrequent enough that you're not staring at noise.

And if a finding doesn't make sense, that's what support is for — email us the finding ID and we'll explain what the check saw in plain English: support@advestigate.co.in.
